Uganda introduced gorilla tourism in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park In the early 1990s. At that time, the silverback Ruhondeza was the leader of the Mubare group, one of two groups that tourists could visit. Dieter Beller launched the campaign Gorillas our friends forever in June 2022 to mark the tenth anniversary of the death of this legendary gorilla. As part of the campaign, he is selling an Eco-Box with gorilla figures made of pewter and collecting donations. The proceeds help to fund environmental, nature and species conservation projects (for example, projects ensuring the water supply for local populations). These projects will help to protect Bwindi and its gorillas in the future.
