HOW DID YOU GET TO GORILLAS?
We had an idea about over consumerism, and we didn't want to feature humans to bring out the message. We considered using animals. After a long brainstorm, the gorilla became the winner as they are close relatives to humans, also we considered their look and strong character. By using gorillas, we portray our message in more fun, interesting and appealing way to the viewer.
WHAT DO YOU THINK MAKES GORILLAS SPECIAL?
Gorillas are special because they are some of our closest relatives after the chimpanzees, and there are lots of aspects of gorillas’ lives that are like humans’. Gorillas live in family groups and gorilla mothers take very good care of their babies. As artists, we really like the visual impact of the gorillas especially the Silverback Gorillas because of the silver saddle of hair on their backs and thick, long black hair on their arms.
HOW DO YOU THINK YOUR WORK CAN HELP GORILLAS?
With our work, we raise deep questions about how we produce and consume sustainably for a better future. Hopefully, this message will bring the awareness of people to have responsible interaction with the environment to avoid depletion or degradation of natural resources and maintenance of the natural world and its natural resources.
