Against the backdrop of war – and despite the death of 130 of their comrades over the last 15 years – Virunga’s park rangers continue to protect the mountain gorillas. Why do they risk everything to protect the park? Because if they don’t, they know Virunga’s mountain gorillas will end up being taken for bushmeat – or fall victim to illegal animal traffickers. Virunga’s rangers care deeply about the park’s wildlife and are determined not to let the loss of their fellow rangers be in vain.
