Gorillas - Conservation
Many national parks have been established to protect the gorillas and
deploy rangers hired by the respective country's authorities. However,
enforcing the protexted status of large areas is not sufficient: the forests
and their occupants can only be protected if local authorities and people
support these efforts. In some areas, authorities are trying to set up
controlled tourism as a means to conserve the gorillas.
